The Partington and Whatmough families came to Melbourne in the 1840s and moved to Greensborough where they farmed along the Plenty River. This is a letter which was published in the Hamilton Spectator on 9 March 1934. It appeals for donations to assist the Knight family, Gus in particular. This type of steriliser was in use from approximately 1907 onward. Designed for surgeons who frequently moved from hospital to hospital. The body and lid of the steriliser were made from one continuous piece of metal to produce a germ-free surface. Dr Mitchell Henry O'Sullivan worked in the Victorian country town of Casterton as a general practitioner from 1919 until his death in 1977. He also practiced obstetrics. His son, Dr David More O'Sullivan donated his obstetric bag and its contents to the College in 1999. The bag and contents are a unique time capsule of the type of instruments and pharmaceuticals used in the inter-war period.Metal instrument steriliser. The donors advised that it was purchased in England in 1934 by one of the parents (not advised) and then brought out to Australia when the immigrated. It was used by them in the eastern suburbs when the did not have electricity or gas. They later moved to the Dandenongs and again had to use it for cooking.Unit consists of a base with three large adjustable kerosene burners under a grid on which pots and pans were placed. At the right hand end is a round metal enclosure in which is enclosed a large glass bottle with a special top. Bottle is filled with kerosene (Royal Daylight Oil) and inverted. Kerosene then flows from container to burners. Flow is controlled by the adjustable needle jet for each burner.|OVEN is separate and has open frame of holes at bottom. It is placed over one of the burners. Heat of the oven is therefore controlled by adjusting the heat of the burner underneath.|There is a spare burner, trays etc and some spare parts in the oven. Camberwell Girls Grammar School was from 1927-1929 called St Mark's Church of England Girls' Grammar School. The School moved from St Mark's Church Camberwell to Torrington House in Torington Street, Canterbury VICTORIA in 1927.This image is one of the few held just after the School's relocation from St Mark's Church to its current site at 2 Torrington Street, Canterbury Victoria in 1927. Miss Elizabeth Lockley was Headmistress of the School from December 1920 - December 1927. She continued on at the school as head of the Junior School until she retired in 1935.

This is the original Caretakers or Curators cottage which was built for the first Botanical Gardens curator, George Longley (1858 - 1899) and his family. George and his family, after being made Gardener, moved to the Surveyors Camp where they lived in a tent. Lord Raglan Hotel (‘The Raglan’) built by Strachan 1855 in Unitt Street, was moved to High street. The owners of the hotel included Kilpatricks and Richard Manning. The hotel was a major coach staging point, with large stables to accommodate the teams. Demolished in 1927. David Malloch was born in 1818 in Dundee Scotland and died in January 1891, his father was James Malloch a weaver and his mother was Jane nee Watson. David Malloch had taken over a plane and tool-making business from John McGlashan a Perth plane maker in 1849 after McGlashan had died. David and later his son (John) ran the business at first from South Methven Street Perth, until early 1856 then the business moved to the center of town in Kirkside at 25 John's Street. He used these premises until 1870 when he moved again to 50 South Street Perth. It is believed his son John was involved at this time and the move was due to the business had outgrown the premises at John Street. It was noted in local publications that the firm by this time had nine employees and regarded as a manufacturer of edge tools of various kinds for cabinet makers, specifically wood planes. John Wilson Dryburgh Snr started plane making in Dundee in 1837 at 42 Murraygate until 1854 when he and his family moved to Toronto Canada. He continued plane making in Canada as did his sons, notably was his son John Dryburgh Jnr who began making planes at an early age and by sixteen years of age around the 1880s was a skilled maker, having been trained by his father, most likely by the time the family came to Canada. Three years later, the entire family had moved to a farm in Northeast Hope, near Stratford, Ontario. John Jnr. would continue in Northeast Hope until 1887, has become the firm's principal plane maker from 1876 onwards when John Jnr had moved to a farm property near Bright, Ontario. He was regarded as a very skilled toolmaker and had made high-quality tools in his youth. On loan from John Mundy family. Searching for gold in the Orbost district began in the last half of the 19th century and continued until circa 1930s. The original Mundy family moved to a land "selection" at Betebolong in the early 1880's from Buchan. The first known residents were Mr and Mrs Walter Pretty and their family who moved there in 1856. The Greensborough Methodist Church stood in Main Street Greensborough and was central to the social life of the suburb in the early 20th century. This original site is now part of the Greensborough Plaza shopping complex. The Church moved to the new building in Grimshaw Street circa 1970s.
