Chair donated to Melbourne City Mission (probably in 1941) by Mrs RODDA of Williamstown and used at the Port Branch (Jubilee Hall) until its closure . From the 1950s it was used by Sister Norma BARNETT, who kept it until her death. It then went to her 'sister' Janne RAY, and on her death to Janne's daughter Tracey RAY. She donated this plus related items to PMHPS in 2017 (refer 1506 and 3906).01 - solid wooden chair with peaked/pointed shaped back. Arms have rounded ends. Upright section of chair has two indented pieces and a small 4 leaf shape under the top of the point with a small brass plaque attached under it. .02 - Cushion - velourOn plaque "Presented to the Port Melbourne Branch of the Melbourne City Mission in loving memory of my husband N.P.Rodda. Small wooden handcrafted set of drawers; drawers enclosed in a 'Shell oil' box. On ends of box, printed in black 'Shell' and 'The British Imperial Oil Company Limited' ' 8 Imperial gallons, motor spirit' Small handcrafted drawers are set in the box. Six small drawers, with four wooden knobs, one metal and one loop of wire acting as a drawer pull. Drawers are made from repurposed boxes. One drawer has label of box on side ' Leggo's of Bendigo, Self Raising Roller Flour', parts of label missing 'Good cheap cake' recipe partly visible. On top of drawers, white paint tin stain.

Wooden table - 4 long planks with dark stain. Splitting has occurred , secured with nails. Remnants of glue and varnish. Turned legs. One prop board underneath table top. Has a metal brace.

Wooden table - 2 panels comprise top which has 4 holes punctured through boards. Majority of top has green lino which is peeling off. Dark stain - legs with one indented cut and legs graduate down from 6 to 4.5 cm width. Pine top - local timber base (blackwood). Repurposed and sturdy.

White painted, lockable. Two double doors with glass panels on sloped base. White base, 4 arched legs.

Cedar with 3 drawers, green lino top. Lockable drawers. One large piece for top. Blackwood legs 9cm width graduating to 6cm. Cedar drawers with knobs which have been replaced extending to back of table with lock and key.Possibly made from Mayday Hills Complex

Glass lamp base - seven sided narrowing before kerosene covered bowl section covered with brass burner possibly ' Aladdin' with used wick. Middle rim patterned - molded glass. Chimney - clear glass undamaged. Made around 1920's - 1950's.

Historical - well used - heavy metal. Inside strongly reinforced - lockable - fluted front handle. One smaller top section. Large bottom section .Ornamented front in central area. BRANX- comb springs in the locks. WAs commonly used as a bank safe & the railways used them in 1880's (from Chris Daniels) Originally green, handle is brass which would clean up.
