Vincent Kelly (1877-1958) was a photographer in Mitchell Street, operating from 1904 until his death in 1958. As well as general photography he was renowned for war-time portraits of soldiers. A sketch of his photograph of underground miners was used on the reverse side of the 1913 1 pound note.Nameplate from Vincent Kelly Photographers, Bendigo. The Marist Brothers arrived in Bendigo in 1893 and began classes for boys in makeshift classrooms at St Killians. By the next year they had moved to a permanent school in McCrae Street. In 1983 Marist amalgamated with St Mary's to form a co-educational school, "Catholic College.Bendigo Advertiser ''The way we were'' from 2003.
