Trams tramways ...Demonstrates an aspect and yields information about the reconstruction of the depot during the reconstruction by the SEC of the Ballarat Tramway system.Set of nine black and white prints of the reconditioning of the tramway depot building during 1936 mounted onto a grey light cardboard sheet. Each photo about 65 x 90. Marked as "Series D2" in ink and a label - in on white paper - "Ballarat Tram Depot / Reconditioning of Buildings" at the top of the sheet. Produced by the SEC c1936. See Reg Items 1349 and 1350 for larger prints of these photographs for six of these photographs. The top row of photographs show the depot prior and post to refurbishment and show a view taken from the south side of Wendouree Parade. These three photographs have been scanned at a higher resolution - see 3902i2 - i4. 3902i2 - shows remnants of the triangle connection at the depot? and that the western track may not have been electrified or laid. 390i4 - has trams 30 and 31 out the front of the depot. Souvenir - Teaspoon, Perfection Plate, BTPS Teaspoon - tram 40 and 1, early 1990's
... Souvenir Teaspoon featuring Ballarat tram No. 40... Parade Ballarat Ballarat goldfields Trams tramways Teaspoons ...Souvenir Teaspoon featuring Ballarat tram No. 40 as the last ram in 1971 in an inset at the top of the tea spoon, and No. 1 Horse tram 1887 in the bowl of the teaspoon contained within a plastic case. The teaspoon made by Perfection Plate, of the Vista style or type. The case has blue plastic base, with clear top with the words "Vista by perfection" printed do top. On the rear of the case is the wording "Perfection". The teaspoon is silver plated, with the tram in a picture 15mm diameter on top and oval shaped in the bowl about 25mm long. The teaspoon is marked "Vista" on the rear, with "Perfection Plate Australia" along the handle of the spoon. Tea spoon is 112mm long x 25mm wide. Case is 125mm high, 32mm wide, by 16mm deep. The Union badge confirmed membeship ...The badge belonged to the Donor's father - Bill Irvin, who was a SEC tram driver. Bill and his elder brother Dan, both drove trams in Ballarat. The Union badge confirmed membeship of the Union and was permitted to be worn on a uniform.Has a strong association with Bill Irvin, SEC tram driver of the 1930's and demonstrates the importance of being a union member at the time and the badge provided by the unionAustralian Tramway Employees Association (Tramways Union) badge. Badge made on a steel/ silver backing with words "Australian Tramway Employees Association" on outer edge of badge with a royal blue enamel background. In centre of badge has the Australian coat of arms with a railway type spoke wheel above the logo and underneath the coat of arms the words "Federated Australia" in a banner. Has a hole in the top of the badge for a steel ring or a method of attachment to a uniform. On back of badge has stamped into the badge "BL 42", possibly indicating Ballarat and badge number. In 1938, the SEC Ballarat decoarated a tram with paper...Ballarat Tramway Museum South Gardens Reserve Wendouree ...In 1938, the SEC Ballarat decoarated a tram with paper flowers for the Floral Festival. Has four ladies dressed in matching clothes standing inside the tram and four inside the doorways. Photographed in Wendouree Parade with Lake Wendouree in the background. The story is that it rained on the day and the ink in the dresses ran. See Reg Item 5188 for a coloured postcard of the ladies standing outside the tram. Yields information about a tram decorated for the 1939 floral festival colour scheme and has a strong association with the people involved in it. Demonstrates the colours used.Framed photograph of the 1939 Floral Tram, No. 29, photographed in Wendouree Parade, rendered, hand painted, in colour. March 1939. Frame - wooden, light brown frame, glazed, with a cut cardboard piece framing the photograph and most of the damage around the print. Has two rounded screw hooks with picture wire between them.Has a label on the front of the glass "Decorated Tram 1938" and number 01291.
