Ephemera - Scholar's Monthly ticket - Ballarat, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), 1966
Scholar's monthly ticket for use by under 15 years students. Has form number "TYE 3-570" in top left hand corner. Space for an expiry date to be stamped on the ticket and name, address and school of the student. The 1966 Schedule of Fares and Charges shows these tickets. See Reg Item 6870 for samples of unused tickets. All issued to the donor Lee Carrigg. Also issued in Bendigo. Yields information and demonstrates the tickets used to for Scholar's or students to travel on the trams in Ballarat during the mid 1960's. Shows the approx numbers of tickets issued each month.Set of four Yellow cloth backed paper tickets with white front, printed in black ink with fare value of $2.10. Issued to Blind People as a travel concession for tramways in the Provincial cities of Geelong, Ballarat and Bendigo.Demonstrates the method that the SECV used to enable free or low cost travel for Blind people with an attendant.Yellow cloth backed paper ticket with white front, printed in black ink - titled "Blind Person's Pass". Used by conductors or conductors to retain and sell tickets from. Demonstrates the method of dispensing tickets by conductors, how the tickets could be arranged. Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Sheet of leather, approx 2mm thick, stained brown with four pockets formed on each side with another sheet of leather, stitched on all sides to form pockets to hold eight blocks of tickets. Stitching is a dark brown colour cotton. Sign - Warning Sign - Pay as you enter, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), "PAY AS YOU ENTER", 1960's
Sheet steel folded to give a top & bottom strengthening. With SEC green paint on back, yellow painted face & lettered PAY AS YOU ENTER in black paint. Used on each tram to indicate to boarding passengers, to pay the motorman as they entered the tram. If not in use was turned to face away from boarding passengers. Ballarat trams fitted with wooden slides on either side of drivers windows, so that they could face the respective open door. Also use by the BTM for similar purposes. Galvanised sheet steel with top & bottom holes(central) & side mounting brackets & rounded corners. Painted with black base and white letters and lines used to indicate which depot track(Line) trams were to be parked or stabled on when returning to the depot. Depot had four under cover tracks (1 to 4) and one outside track ("0") road. Lettered as shown on the sketch on the original worksheet. Reg.
