Dave Macartney advised 12/1/2001 that the crew member on the left is Sam Serman, who was senior inspector at the time and drove special trams. Newspaper clipping from The Courier Ballarat, Saturday Sept. 19, 1981 - Saturday Magazine - featuring the BTPS and 10 years since the closure of the Ballarat System. Article contains story of the Ballarat tramways, the establishment of the Museum, closure and statement from Richard Gilbert, General Manager of the BTPS. Article written by John Dyall. Notes that the depot extension is to be "officially opened today" and that coupons are printed in the newspaper, giving free rides for the day. A3 size photo copy enlargement of a photograph of an ESCo tramcar on a property near Ballarat. Was printed in the Souvenir Supplement Issue of the closure of the Ballarat Tramways - see Reg item 269. The caption for the photograph in this article gave the tram number as No. 16. Was made for the first depot display board on ESCo No. 12, c Nov. 1993 from newspaper cutting loaned by Alan Bradley. Has a reproduction of the photograph of the workmen who assembled Horse Tram No. 1 in front of the Wendouree Parade Depot - See Reg. Item No. 765. Built by Duncan and Fraser From information given by R. Kellett identifies a number of people around the tram: These are George Fraser, Peter Hadgetts, George Barnett, Moyce and Lang blacksmiths, Nichols, Gaston, Buckley, George Armstrong, John Cameron, Si Barker, W. Skewes as carpenters. Additional name - from Doug Bunker, Victor Harbor horse tram - person with one knee up is a painter, person lying in front of tram - a Mr. Carmichael. Ephemera - Ticket/s, State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV), Block of 25 No. 13 cent Parcel Tickets, 1969
Yields information about the style and printing of tickets used in Ballarat and Bendigo tramways and how they were presented.Block of 25 No. 13 cent Parcel Tickets. Two part printed ticket, using sepia ink on white paper with a gummed back, stapled with a single staple at the top onto a cardboard sheet. Ticket Nos. A007001 to A007025 The ticket butt or top portion has the form number "TYE 3-590". The second or middle portion was to be affixed to the parcel to be carried. It has the name of the organisation (SECV), "Parcel Ticket 13c", conditions of carriage and ticket number, prefixed with the letter A. The lower portion was retained by the sender, was to be initialled by the conductor, organisation name, "Parcel Ticket 13c", conditions of use, ticket number and a space where to be initialled by the conductor. The 1969 Schedule of Fares and Charges gives the conditions of the use of these tickets. See Reg. Item No. 704. 1727.1 - As above, Ticket Nos. A007405 to A 007405. Set of 15 mixed SEC tickets found in a tramcar being worked on at the depot c1998 (possibly No. 18 or 28), information not recorded at the time. Tickets have been used and have varying degrees of dirt. The image file shows the nature of the damage. Tickets have not been individually numbered with the Registration Number, but can be identified by their ticket number and denomination. Has a strong association with tram crews and the rosters crew workings, possibly inspector Dave Kellett in Ballarat. Prepared by crews from sheets to enable them to know what service times to run, meal times, details of crew changes etc, based on their allocated shift or run from the roster.Notebooks used to record rosters/ runs for crews for the March 1970 roster Ballarat on Sundays .Pocket Notebook - green cover, faint ruled, up to 100 pages per book, cloth bound at the top, contained within a black plastic notebook holder/folder. A Calendar for 1970, by 'The Mutual Life and Citizen' Assurance Company Limited" is positioned on the inside within a clear plastic sheet. The Notebook is headed "Sundays" Has the hand written details of each SEC Ballarat runs, Sundays runs, - giving sign on times, notes, timetables, which run taken or taken by, meal times, notes with regard to special instructions, finish times and notes. Most pages at the front of the notebook have been removed. On the rear sheets are the sign on times for the crews, time out of the depot, and the time into the depot and from which terminus.
