Wayne William Forbes No 3176337 served as a National Servicemen from April 1969 to April 1971. He volunterred and served in Vietnam with 1 Field Sqd Royal Aust Engineers from 22.8.70 to 22.7.71. He signed on in Vietnam for an extra 3 months service beyond his 2 years National Service. The kit bags were issued prior to Vietnam. Refer 2586 and his Father 1101, 1102, 1103.44P. This putting cleek is a narrow, low lofted club face - the 180s equivalent of a putter. Sectioned by Dr. Geoffrey Kaye.A metal inhaler which has been sectioned to reveal the interior, painted in red and blue to indicate direction of air flow. The large, bowl-like opening with metal gauze for attachment of a rebreather bag has been painted red, and the metal mask at the other end has been painted brown. Equipment - Inhaler, Bruck
The Bruck Inhaler is a modification of the Clover Inhaler, designed by Lambert Bruck. Bruck added a glass dome which enabled the level of ether to be monitored during administration. This was a revolutionary change as it removed guess work from the process.The inhaler is oval shaped with two halves. One half should be made of glass [missing] to allow observation of the ether level. A vertical cross tube, 22mm in diameter passes between the face-piece and the bag [broken]. There is a stopcock for admission of oxygen or nitrous oxide opposite the bag attachment. This item was made in the United Kingdom C 1890-1920 by Marjorie Burton's mother, Mrs Whiteman and was probably made for Marjorie's trousseau. Marjorie Burton ( nee Whiteman), born 12 June, in Birmingham, England came to Orbost in 1995. In England she did office work – typing, shorthand and secretarial work - in accountants’ offices and also trained as a comptometrist with Burroughs in London. She came from middle-class working church-going family. Her mother was a milliner who made all of Marjorie’s clothes, hats and outfits. . This item is an example of a handcrafted item and reflects the needlework skills of women in the first half of the 20th century.A rectangular linen bag, ecru coloured, It is embroidered with "Linen" in a matching colour and decorated with embroidered flowers. George Temple, born in Yorkshire on 26/2/1832 was one of the earliest Orbost storekeepers. Temple's Store was on the corner of Ruskin and Nicholson Streets opposite the post office. He packed stores to the Bendoc area goldfields. The store building eventually became part of Herbert's store when he died in 1917.George Temple was one of Orbost's earliest storekeepers.A large piece of hessian - probably an opened bag which was used for sending goods.
