Rae Alexander Anderson OAM (1903-1986) was connected to St Paul's Church and a pharmacist at the Bendigo Hospital. Rae was the organist and choir master of the parish church of St Paul, Bendigo, 1931 - 1965. Rae's son Stuart Anderson from the Balgownie Winery 1969-1999; had also been a pharmacist. Rae Anderson was a former President of the Royal Historical Society of Victoria, Bendigo Branch; now the Bendigo Historical Society. Rae died on the 8th. February, 1986 aged 82 years. He was a dedicated pharmacist; an outstanding musician; choir master and organist at St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral; a craftsman who loved to fashion things in wood and brass; interested tn the preservation of our heritage. Rae established "the Anderson Library" at the Society for reading and research.Seventeen Photos of the St Paul's Church of England. They were restored from a box of glass plate negatives found under a house in Mckenzie Street, Bendigo,when it was sold. The photos are assumed to be taken by Rae Alexander Anderson and were processed through his pharmacy. Pale blue, printed and handwritten invoice dated June 1913, issued to Mr Todd, Secretary, Church of England, Linton, by Middleton and Morris, "Ironmongers, Plumbers, Slaters, Gasfitters and Bellhangers" of Sturt Street, Ballarat. Invoice is for "Galv. Bath & Plug", and "Copper Shower" and is for a total of one pound, nine shillings and sixpence. Thomas Jefferson Connelly played an important role in role in seeking support for the movement towards federation of the Australian colonies. Connelly was the first Bendigo born Mayor of Bendigo, and the youngest Mayor of Bendigo. He died in 1892 aged just 34. The portrait was painted by Robert William Bugg from a Bartlett Bros. photograph. It was unveiled in the ANA Hall in View Street by Alfred Deakin on October 18, 1893. A re-enactment of the unveiling was held at the Bendigo Art Gallery on October 18 1993. a. Three page typewritten outline of the speech given by John Quick. b. Handwritten script of Quick's speech used at the re-enactment. c. Handwritten script of Alfred Deakin's speech used at the re-enactment. d. Yellow paper bifold program for the Centenary of the Unveiling of the Portrait of Thomas Jefferson Connelly. The part of John Quick was played by Robert Lloyd. Irini Pappas and her husband Paul Anagnostou are photographed with the captain's wife (right), Irini's father's first cousin during the visit of the SS Gratsos ship. She was one of only two women ever qualified as first mate. At the time the Women's Weekly ran a double page spread featuring her. in Greece on board a ship travelling to or from Ithaca.'George D. Gratsos - Ithaca' printed on the buoy indicates that the ship was part of the Gratsos shipping company. The shipping activities of the Gratsos family from Ithaca began in 1902, when Georgios D. Gratsos (1870–1931) bought the ship Odysseus, in partnership with the Dracoulis family, of which Gratsos' wife was a member. The basement area also contained film and cinema memorabilia collected by Stathi over the decades. The seating is from an old cinema. Pictured is Stathi Raftopoulos (standing) and seated to the right is Michael Black and Paul Connell. The Ithacan Philanthropic Society has been donating to the Royal Children's Hospital since 1922. Easter fundraiser functions have been held at the clubrooms to support the annual Children's Hospital Appeal. The photo shows a group of IPS members presenting a cheque for $10000 to the hospital's Good Friday Appeal. Pictured presenting the cheque to the appeal organisers are committee members Dennis Katsamas, Paul Karavias, Tony Drakopoulos (President) and Kristalenia Collins, together with young three young members.The Ithacan Philanthropic Society is proud of its long held tradition of being a truly philanthropic society and every year donates to worthy causes.A coloured photograph of a lady, three men, a girl and two boys holding a large cheque to the value of $ 10 000 made out to the Royal Children's Hospital.
