KING EDWARD V11 MEMORIAL SANATORIUM FOR CONSUMPTIVES Research paper, (20 handwritten pages) on the movement in Bendigo to establish a sanatorium for people suffering from phthisis and tuberculosis in the region. References to the movement date from 21 August 1896 through to 14th June 1933. Top of page are reference numbers relating to T.B, phthisis, Wm. Guy, Edward V11 Sanatorium, Dr. Stuart Cowen. Possibly articles and page numbers from Annals of Bendigo? First entry reads: 'In his annual report, Dr. J.N. Eadie Health Officer, drew attention to the enormous death rate in Bendigo from phthisis, especially amongst the miners, and urged that steps should be taken to perfect the legislation with regard to Mine Ventilation. ..... Folded pamphlet, brochure, titled "Lake Wendouree Information Brochure" produced by the City of Ballarat giving information on Lake Wendouree, fishing, water quality, sport, restrictions, a guide to lake features, history, wildlife, ecosystem and a small section of the Golden City Paddle Steamer and Ballarat Vintage Trams. Printed on recycled paper (cream coloured 1993; or white 1996) in green ink. Folded into four. The 1996 brochure has been revised, primarily with reference to the map. See Reg. Copy of a letter and associated documents written to the Town Clerk, City of Ballaarat, dated Aug 1, 1985 seeking the support of the Council in attaining the body of the tramcar in Ballarat East. (Tram was actually obtained in December). Signed by the Secretary, Richard Gilbert. Mentions Frank Hanrahan as President for further information. Enclosed within letter is a two page note on BTPS Letter head outlining the history of the tramcar, its restoration, current condition, possible operation and value of the restoration. Attached as well is a folded drawing out an Adelaide double deck horse tram (Reference Reg. Item No. 706.1 ) and a photocopy of the builders of the first horse tram at the depot in 1887 (Reference Reg. Item No. 765 ). A number of the trams have SEC roof advertisements and one unidentified one. Tram 36 has the "Trotting Bray Raceway Friday Night" auxiliary boards and is showing the destination of "CITY". Digital image or copy of the SEC "Official Timetable Geelong No. 45", 16 image files - 32 pages, giving details of the fares, transfers, luggage or parcels, lost property, times of each tram on the Belmont (1), Chilwell (2), East Geelong (3), Eastern Park (4), Newtown (5), North (6), West Geelong (7). Gives details of railway station trams, transfer ticket arrangements, depot workings and the night signs carried out each tram. Based on the 4d max fare, it is a circa 1949 timetable - see reference. When a new cloth design was created, a small sample would be cut and pasted into this folder, so that any future designs could be compared against it. Newspaper report of two deaths around the date of Ringwood Show, March 1917. Mr Thomas Thomas aged 66 - haemorrhage following coughing fit 22/3/1917, and Master Stan Milne aged 10, son of Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Milne and grandchild of Mr. and Mrs. J. Hann of Ringwood - struck by merry-go-round part 25/3/1917.Mr Thomas leaves a wife and grown family. Corporal E. Thomas was a son of the deceased and was one of the heroes of war invited to a place of honor on Show Day. In his absence, Sergt. S. Chivers made feeling reference to the death of Mr. Thomas.

Walking through a shopping mall it is easy to become immersed in consumerism and material things. I have tried to create a link between the urban and the natural world. Walking through the area I couldn't find many references to nature.
