Furniture - Linoleum Sheeting, C 1900
This linoleum is in-situ in one of the rooms of the house at Days Mill. Newspaper laid underneath indicates the linoleum was laid after September 1910.PATTERNED LINOLEUM : A floor covering made from materials such as solidified linseed oil (linoxyn), pine rosin, ground cork dust, wood flour, and mineral fillers such as calcium carbonate, most commonly on a burlap or canvas backing. This piece has a cream & light grey mosaic type background with circular brown leaf repeating patterns interlaced into four square blue shapes. Central star pattern within circular leaf pattern in light & dark blues & browns. Stylised floral motif in between each circular & square shaped pattern repeats. -

Possibly used to hold small lengths of string that could be accessed through hole in front.Small bag handmade of hessian. Has a string handle at top and has a hole in the centre that has been roughly sewn around edge of hole. There are small lengths of string inside the bag. It has been repaired at the back with string. Inscription on hessian. -

Would have been attached to a horse halter or bridle over horse's eyes to prevent flies infecting horse's eyes.Coloured string hand knotted into a fringed object. Colours have faded, but appears to have been red, green & yellow. -

Unknown. Possibly lid of water tank?Handmade remodelled lid, enamelled, cream colour, circular. Shape possibly cut with tin snips. Underside has 2 braces in cross shape riveted to lid. Braces bent down at edges of lid (possibly to fit on base?). Upper side, has lids, 1 toward top and 1 at bottom.
