On Friday 16 August 2002, a truck carrying the tower crane counterweights from the 4th residential tower in Beach Street, entered Princes Pier to turn around and fell through the decking. The area was fenced off and a year later on 18 November 2003 the truck was extricated by a crane on a barge.
