Found uncatalogued in our collectionCreamy white lace jabot of two gathered layers into an oval shape with centre of five lace flowers down the front. The lace is gathered to a central strip of net with a label with '1662' on it. At neck is a brooch pin sewn on. The cotton lace is edged with a sewn on narrow scalloped edge. Flower pattern is daffodils and leaves.1662costume, female

Hat belonged to Julie Jones née Foley, now Heritage Programs Officer, City of Whitehorse. Worn for Grade 2 (1960) and Grade 3 (1965). Julie started school at Blackburn State School for Prep and Grade 1 and was on the waiting list for St Thomas The Apostle's in Blackburn. A vacancy came up for Julie to start in Grade 2 (1964). The teacher was Ms Goody and the building was 'an outdoor building separate from the main building'. Her sister Christine was in Grade 6, and she wore the hat first. St Thomas' was co-ed for primary level (Prep- 6) and girls for form 1 - Form 4 (highest level). The hat was hand me down from Christine. Received anonymously by a teacher of the Lace Guild of Australia, Victorian Branch. Karolina Jeffers of Vermont. Donor told Karolina that the lace had belonged to her aunt. The aunt had worked in a dressmakers in Flinders Lane in the 1930s where she acquired the lace. Donor was in her 80s when she gave the lace to Karokina.1. Small white round piece of Irish crochet. White tape lace on a card which is enclosed in a large illustrated envelope. The mid 19th century 'Renaissance Lace' is wound around cardboard which is in the large envelope. The lace depicts five petaled daisies with an eyelet on each side. The envelope is illustrated with drawings of snowdrops. It opens on the front with small snowdrops drawn around the square opening. She was gate keeper at the Tunstall (Nunawading) railway gates crossing at Springvale Road during 1934 - 1952.A house was supplied for the keeper.
