Yields information about the retirement, appointment or death of well known SEC Ballarat inspectors and office managers and has a strong association with the work and involvement in Ballarat activities.Page of five newspaper clippings from The Courier, pasted to a single foolscap lined page. 1 - "Tramways Officer Farewelled" - 8-9-1950, about the retirement of Mr A. V. Mawby in the Electra Hall, following his appointment at Departmental Tramway Superintendent in Melbourne. Has been with the SEC for 29 years. Gives details of the speakers at the function. 2 - untitled, dated 3-2-1951, about the appointment of Mr,. L.J. Denmead as SEC Branch Tramway Superintendent. Notes he was formally with the MMTB. 3 - "Popular Tramway Inspector Dead" - 10-6-1949 - reporting one the death of Harold Phillip (Freddie) James. Worked for the trams for 41 years, was 61 when he died. Gives an outline of his Ballarat activities. 4 - "Recalls Steam Trams" - 15-3-1946 - about the retirement of Mr. W. K. K. Dunstan, as the local branch office manager for the SEC and his commencement in Bendigo when steam trams were operating. 5 - "Drove First Electric Tram" - undated - Mr. G. A. Laurens who retired from the SEC in August last, after 41 years of service. Drove first tram in Ballarat and Bendigo. Auction catalogue for a sale on 13th March, 1946 under instructions from the Commonwealth Disposals Commission at the Army Salvage Depot, Fishermen's Bend. Motors, Chevrolet, Dodge, Ford V8, Motor Engines, Harness, Steel Shelving and Miscellaneous Equipment. J. H. Curnow & Son were the auctioneers. Catalogue has column for £, S and D down the right side of the page to write in the price of each lot. Contains a description of some lots. Document - LA TROBE UNIVERSITY BENDIGO COLLECTION: BENDIGO TEACHERS' COLLEGE GRADUATION CEREMONY 1954
A light blue document titled "Bendigo Teachers' College 1954". Also on the front cover is a list of the staff working at the college at that time. On the inside cover is the "Significance of the Graduation Ceremony" and "Order of the Ceremony". Mr. F. M. Courtis gave a welcome to visitors whilst the Principal gave the college charge to the graduands. The 'Graduation Book' was presented to Mr. E. C. Krieger Inspector of Schools by Miss J. C. Burnett. The final call for 1954 of the graduands was called by Mr. F. G. East. Finally the Occasional Address was given by Mr. O. C. Phillips Chief Inspector of Primary Schools. The following page contains a list of the graduands and on the back cover is the "Principal's Charge to the Graduands". There is also a white typewritten insertion within the booklet which contains words to the hymns and a plan of the physical arrangement of the school hall for the graduation. Bolton Print Bendigo.
