A double deck horse drawn tram with single saloon. drop ends, stairs, longitudinal seats, sliding doors, wheels of cast iron, hand brakes - see notes. Originally built by Duncan & Fraser in 1887. Rebuilt by BTPS 1991. From the BTM Fleet page on the website: Built in 1887 by Duncan and Fraser for the Ballaarat Tramway Company Ltd. as a double-decked horse tramcar. One of eight cars which ran as trailers behind electric trams at times of heavy patronage, after takeover and conversion of the horse lines by the Electric Supply Company of Victoria Ltd. in 1905. Withdrawn in the late 1920's when the body shell became a residential outbuilding locally, until retrieved in 1985. 1330.1 - Approx 110m long section of a compressor armature end binding from the compressor of tram No. 40. The binding section consists of string which has been impregnated with insulating varnish. Located between the end of the armature and the commutator and retains the mica core. Small pieces of mica on the inside. Has a circular shape inherent from its use. - Not numbered. 1330.2 - approx. 25mm long section strip of red silicone tape with glass fibre reinforcement - 25mm wide with a plastic separation strip. Ticket wallet with a set of four 1970's Ballarat tram tickets set up to represent part of a typical conductor's set of tickets by the BTM for display purposes.. 74.1 - Sheet of leather, approx. 2mm thick, stained brown with four pockets formed on each side with another sheet of leather, stitched on all sides to form pockets to hold eight blocks of tickets.
