This sequence of photos shows the progressive redevelopment and refurbishment of the original Galen Catholic College buildings into two of the school's new junior school buildings. These two buildings constituted the entire Galen Catholic College from their construction in 1975 until 1983, when only senior level classes were conducted. Jean Brown (Nee Vincent) joined because her husband -Les Brown(dec)- was a volunteer. They had 4 children - Stephen, Christine(Myrtle), Peter, Mark, (Stephen, Peter, Mark were juniors & seniors). Jean joined the ladies auxiliary in 1955 - 1/06/1975 and 1985 - current. Has been a member for over 20years and is a life member. As an auxiliary member was involved in Street stalls, presentation nights, social nights, RCH appeals. ... Was also a member of the west end mothers club and helped at the technical school. 2. Peter Brown - was in juniors 1971 - 1976, (in 1972 at Chelsea the team of R. Bernard Neal was became Galen Catholic College's 3rd lay principal in 2010, taking over from Mr. Dave Seiter. Mr. Neal served as the school principal until the end of 2021. Max Fletcher became Galen Catholic College's 1st lay principal in 1987, taking over from Sister Anne Boyd. Mr. Fletcher served as the school principal until the end of 2001. During his time as our principal, many building projects were undertaken and the number of students at Galen Catholic College continued to rise. The most significant development during Mr. Fletcher's tenure was Galen College becoming a one campus school in 1990. Mr Neal is the longest serving principal that Galen Catholic College has had. Sister Anne Boyd became the 1st principal of Galen Catholic College as a catholic co-educational college for Years 7 through to Year 12, following the merger of Galen Catholic College, Champagnat College & St. Joseph's College. She took over the helm at Galen College from Brother Ross Keane. Sister served as the school principal until Max Fletcher took over in 1987. Saint Joesph's College was a Catholic girl's school situated in Ryley Street in Wangaratta. In 1983, it joined with Champagnat College and Galen Catholic College, to form an enlarged Galen Catholic College, serving Year 7 to 12 students.
