Has bird standing on a branch as part of the badge. Has the space for the year to be inscribed above the bird. On the rear is a metal pin that can be put vertically through a jacket and the manufacturers name "K. Luke Melb". The clasp for the pin has been closed so the pin cannot be opened. Stamped metal uniform badge for MMTB Depot starters. Tramways Board logo at top of badge in silver finish, the words "DEPOT STARTER" and the scroll outline in brass or gold colour. The enamel finish within the scroll work also finished in royal blue. On rear badge in brass/gold finish, with word "RG LUKE MELB" stamped into . Book

The Union commenced as the Australian Tramway Employees Association in 1910. Changed its name in 1934 to the "Aust Tramway & Motor Omnibus Employees Association" so as to incorporate bus drivers of motor omnibuses. Became part of the Rail Transport Bus Union in 1993. See reference. Union members were issued with badges to indicate their membership. They were permitted to be worn on their uniforms. See item 7087 for a non-Victorian version and 915 for another example.Demonstrates a badge issued to members of the ATMOEABadge - made on a brass/gold backing with painted enamel on the front. On the central portion of the badge, had the ATMOEA logo, with the words "Unity" with red enamel backing, and on the outer edge of the badge "Aust Tramway & Motor Omnibus Employees Association" with a royal blue background. Book published to celebrate the centenary of the opening of the first cable tram in Melbourne, 11/11/1885. Reviews the history of trams in Melbourne, cable trams, horse trams, Clapp, municipal tramways, electric trams, MMTB, buses, Preston Workshops, Wattle Park and the Metropolitan Transit Authority. Notes the MTA winning the tender to building the Kowloon - Canton Light Rail system and Melbourne's Automatic Vehicle Monitoring System.
