Also possibly copy slides as quality is poorish. 1175.1 - No. 27 has derailed at Depot, across Wendouree Parade, and No. 33 appears to be about to try and tow it back on. Wendouree Parade totally blocked. Adjacent pole has tram stop sign and has "Stafford Court" street sign mounted on it. 1175.2 - No. 43 at corner of Drummond St. South and Dana Street, with destination Lydiard St. North. 1175.3 - No. 42 (Mt Pleasant) and 21 (Gardens via Sturt St. West) crossing at Gardens Loop. 1175.4 - No. 42 bound for Lydiard St. Nth at intersection with Macarthur St. Shows the retaining wall for the cutting on the east side of Lydiard St. Nth. 1175.5 - No. 43 at corner of Lydiard St and Sturt St., at city terminus showing "Special" and tram 35 adjacent to Post Office in Lydiard St. Nth. Many horse drawn cabs are waiting along side the centre median strip on the north side, and the back of one cab on the Lydiard St. kerb. A number of women on the top deck. "Typed caption on photo" "Tram going up North Side of Sturt Street 1897, Note Cab Stand." Photo is believed to be from a copy negative of an original held in the collection of the Ballarat Historical Society. Also has drawing pit marks in corners on photograph. Newspaper clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, dated 23/6/1971, titled "New futures for tram shelters" with a subtitle, "Sturt street tram shelters are in demand." Two requests for the use of the tram stop shelter at Grenville St. had been received by the City Council. Ballarat Region Tourist Promotion Association suggested it be developed as a tourist information centre and Ballarat Council of Churches wanted to place a Christmas Crib during the Christmas season. Council decided to allow for one Christmas only and suggested that the Shelter at Lydiard St. be used by the Tourist Association. Taken from the Post Office tower looking south west, with buildings on the south side of Sturt St., west of Lydiard St in the view. Has the Robert Burns statue in the bottom left hand corner. Titled "Sturt Street, Ballarat" along the bottom edge. On rear of postcard are the words "Post Card", and guidance where the message may be written and space for the address. In the stamp section, details for Inland 1/2d stamp needed, and for Foreign 1d. The item looks at the overall outcomes of the study and who funded it. See image No. 1. Text written by Alex Easton. 2241.2 - page 6 of The Courier, which joins with page 7 using the titled "Romantic image captures the city's imagination" reviewing reactions to the proposals from various politicians, business and community groups. ESCo Employee Hours Work Record book that has been used by an ESCo/SEC inspector, H. P. James as a record / note book for his personal collection or papers or journal titled "In Other Days". Book sewn with string in 36 page sections, blank end papers, board covers with stipple paper out sides and Rexene cloth binding. Comprising plain paper end papers and 104 printed pages (52 leaves), with each sheet printed in black on feint ruled paper for recording the hours worked and other details of drivers and conductors employed by ESCo. Printed for daily use, with Day and date page headings - made out for the 1930's. Text generically printed feint ruled paper. Images: Book - i1 Inside front cover - i2 Members Certificate - i3 Photo of H.P. James and index page - i4 Has been used to gather mementos such as photos, articles, newspaper clippings, letters and other miscellaneous documents on Ballarat local history. Newspaper cuttings etc often have side notes written by Mr. James. Inside front cover has certificate recording Mr. James membership to the Ballarat Historical Society (on Australasian Historical Record Society paper) for 1937 - 1938. Has a strong association with Wal Jack.Printed colour postcard of an ESCo tram west bound at the intersection of Sturt and Lydiard St. Ballarat, c1905. Has a number of horse drawn vehicles and pedestrians in the picture. Taken from the Post Office tower looking south west, with buildings on the south side of Sturt St., west of Lydiard St in the view. Has the Robert Burns statue in the bottom left hand corner. Titled "Sturt Street, Ballarat" along the top edge. On rear of postcard are the words "Post Card", on either side of a symbol "JE" within a diamond, a 1d Victorian stamp. Divided back type.
