The hat belonged to Edna Vlassopoulos who with her husband Andrew, had a poultry farm and market garden in the old Westmeadows township and later at Bulla. The hat was purchased to wear at a family wedding.A pink straw hat with a pink silk folded band wrapped above a narrow brim. There is a full-blown pink silk rose which is a trim on the RHS of the crown. The skirt is gathered to the waist in two places in front and has two darts at the back. The sleeves are short, set in, gathered at the shoulder and end in inverted V shapes. The bodice is shaped with two sets of gathers in front and two darts at the back. The square neck dips to a shallow point in front, fastens with six self-covered shanks behind and is edged with cream net frill (probably discoloured white). It has long sleeves, the fullness reduced in four box pleats on the forearm and in five rows of shirring at the shoulder. The collar is in a deep-pointed shirt style. The coat fastens with three sets of press studs and two sets of hooks and eyes. One set of press studs does not align. There are two hidden pockets in the front lining above the waist. Victorian Railways uniform jacket in navy blue woollen cloth. It has straight sleeves, a standing collar with brown piping and rounded fronts. There are two set- in pockets on the fronts and a breast pocket in the right front lining. The body is lined with a glazed black twill and the sleeves with cream cotton with a longitudinal brown pinstripe. The three pockets are lined with heavy tan twill. There are five metal buttons embossed with a crown and "VR". There is a black cotton tape loop inside the collar.In the breast pocket, in purple ink the initials "GL" or "GI". In the right sleeve lining, an unreadable stamp in purple ink. In the left sleeve lining, pencilled "XB 338" or "X13 338".
