Archive (Series) - SILCOCK, Dr. Ken
Various PartiesReference, Research, InformationArranged by Secondary Values (value of records to users)Dr. Ken Silcock was a Kew-educated man who would play an important role in curating and growing the dairy industry in Victoria. After earning a scholarship to study at Trinity Grammar School, he would go on to study and work in agriculture, taking up a role with the state government for thirty-nine years. His role saw him help dairy farmers out of the recent depression, and after serving in the war, he would continue to grow the industry to help get Victoria designated as the prime dairy producing region of Australia. After his retirement in 1975, he would go on to become engaged in history, and wrote books and participated in the Kew Historical Society. He would pass away at the age of 101 in 2011. The file includes: A letter from Silcock to the Kew Historical Society, a message printed by Silcock for Christmas, newspaper articles regarding Silcock, copes of his written history of Kew, and a funeral booklet.dr. ken silcock – kew (vic.), dairy – kew (vic.)dr. ken silcock – kew (vic.), dairy – kew (vic.)
