August Schwerkolt's youngest daughter married a German national in the U.S.A. on the way back to Australia via Germany. The war broke out. The Australian government confiscated Schwerkolt Cottage because she had married a German. The property was recovered after the war, but a demolition order had been placed on it in the early 1960's.
