The Bendigo Horticultural and Agricultural Show began in 1859 when a meeting was held at the Shamrock hotel to form a committee. The first competitive event was a ploughing competition held at Lockwood in June 1859.Bendigo Agricultural Show Society Lady's Ticket: Lady's Ticket and Family Ticket included. Yellow card, black print with hole left side for attaching Reads * Lady's Ticket and Family Ticket 1966. Thursday, Friday and Saturday. October 20th, 21st and 22nd. This ticket will admit either a Lady or the Member's Family up to 14 years of age, provided it is produced with either the Member's ticket or the other Lady's Ticket. The photograph was taken at one of the early Sunbury Shows. In April 1900 saw the establishment of the Sunbury Horticultural Society but it was in September 1915 that the first Sunbury Show was held at the Corporation Sale Yards in the form of a horse parade and sale. In 1917 the Show was held at the Old Reserve which was adjacent to the railway precinct. Today the Sunbury Show is held in October at the Clarke Oval. Annual Agricultural Shows are important events in many towns throughout the country and in Sunbury, it still draws crowds.A non-digital black and white photocopied photograph of a gathering of people at an agricultural show. In 1947 Shire President Cr. Charles F. Pollard called a public meeting for the purpose of discussing the forming of an Agricultural Society to raise funds for the proposed Wodonga Hospital. Cr. Pollard was the inaugural President of the Wodonga Show Society and joined by seven past Shire Presidents as part of an original 25 member Wodonga Show Society Committee. These committee members are captured in this photo. In addition to the committee, there were 150 members of the inaugural society. The first Wodonga Show was held on Saturday 6th March 1948. The catalogue for this event is included here. Forty district farmers guaranteed £400 in prize money; £321 was taken at the gate, and money from entry fees totalled £50. A profit of £50 was made for the Wodonga Hospital. Plaque was presented in 2013 and was hung on the staff room walls until 2015. The letter to Ross Gregory Hall was written by Jolyon Burnett, Senior Industry Program Manager, granting funding for NY538 International Propagators Society Australian Region Annual Conference, Melbourne, May 1996. The agreement between The Horticultural Research and Development Corporation and the Faculty of Agriculture, Forestry and Horticulture for this project was signed by Gregory Moore, Principal of the College in 1995.1.
