Jeannie Green from Wandin married Willie Richardson (son of the original settler Jabez Richardson) in 1898. They built a home in the Kalorama Valley and named it "Mt Calvin". Jeanie had three children - Reuben born 1890, William born 1901 and Jean born 1910. Jeanie suffered ill health and required assistance with cooking and cleaning. Printed postcard/ticket for the 16/9/1905 Railway Picnic by the Electric Supply Co of Victoria promoting Bendigo Tramways. Has three views of ESCo's depot and power station and one of a tram. Ticket priced at 6d. On the rear is an advertisement for Henderson & Goodisson's Beehive drapery, furniture, and Carpets. The letter has been sent to Mr Lewis Morgan of Pitfield Plains Vic, noting the trams. Would appear that used tickets have been recycled for the publication, also has reproductions of concession cards. This photo is another view of the brick Ticket Box (58.1) on the right side of main gates and next to the former Dane House. In 1999 the house was owned by Stawell City Council and used as the Community Neighborhood House. It was demolished some years ago. This yearly train ticket was issued to Frederick Noble to travel from the Kew Railway Station to Melbourne. The Kew Branch Line ceased operations as a passenger service in 1952, the year after the ticket was issued. The Kew Railway Station was demolished in 1957. The ticket was donated to the Society by the City of Kew in 1989.Brass VR First Class Rail ticket issued to Frederick Noble. The token is dated 1.1.51. It names the owner as Mr F.H. Noble. Gives an understanding of the variety of special purpose tickets issued by the Electric Supply Company for use on the Provincial Tramways of Victoria.The Pensioner's Fare Concession Certificate is for the year 64-65. Printed on tan colored card, with black print. It notes Restrictions on the time of travel. The reverse gives additional information about the ticket, including the expiry date. There is a space for the ticket-holder's signature. The Hospital travel voucher is printed on white card with black ink. It is issued by the Electricity supply Department for use on Provincial Trams. The ticket is not transferable. This appears to be a sample and shows that the 2d ticket as shown can be altered in value to 3d,4d,5d,6d or 7d. The Pensioner's Fare Concession Certificate has the word "Cancelled" stamped in red ink across both face and back. The Hospital Travel Voucher has "Issued to Base hospitals Ben & Bal who issue to pensioners. Collected by SEC. Charged to Health Dept". Typically in Kew, this included teams in lawn bowls, tennis and croquet. The Kew Bowling Club was formed in 1880 while the privately owned Auburn Heights Recreation Club was opened in 1904. By 1998, the two Clubs decided to amalgamate at the Auburn Heights site in Barkers Road, forming the Kew Heights Sports Club. The combined club was itself taken over by the Melbourne Cricket Club in 2012 becoming MCC Kew Sports Club. In 2017 MCC Kew closed and its landholding was subsequently sold to Carey Baptist Grammar School. Both the Kew and Auburn Heights Clubs assembled important collections. These historically significant and large collections were donated to the Society in 2020. The collections include manuscripts, pictures, trophies, plans, honour boards etc. The combined collections of the four sporting clubs making up the collection number hundreds of items that are historically significant locally. They are also significant to the sporting history of the greater Melbourne area and to the sports of lawn bowls and tennis in Australia in the 19th and 20th centuries. This passenger ticket is a copy from an original held by the Old Colonists' Association of Ballarat. The original was glued onto a page in a large album of photographic images of early Ballarat. Recognising their significance the Council of the Old Colonists’ Association had them removed and restored.
