Medallion was issued to Miss Edna Huf of Albury, sister of No 533 Sergeant Carl Wilhelm Huf, 7th Battalion AIF who died at sea on HMT "Royal George" on 13 May 1915 of wounds received at Gallipoli and buried in Chatly Cemetery Egypt. Huf was aged 20. Miss Edna Huf donated the medallion together with other items to 8/13th Victorian Mounted Rifles Collection prior to her death at Albury.Part of a collection of items relating to the service and death of a single Australian soldier in WWI which was kept by his sister and passed to a local military collection for keeping shortly before her death in Albury.Bronze medallion featuring Simpson and donkey on obverse and map of Australia and New Zealand on reverse. Issued in 1967 to surviving persons who had served at Gallipoli and NOK of deceased servicemen. Milton Arthur Williamson was born in Clunes, Victoria and enlisted at 22 years and 5 months on 29/3/1915. He embarked for Alexandria on 30/8/1915. He was injured during duty and had continual problems with his knee. He was returned to Australia on 10/9/1917 following several appearances before the Medical Board of the Australian Military Offices of London and Kent in the United Kingdom. The termination of his appointment was effected on 4/3/1918 and he was medically discharged from the AIF. He then re enlisted on 1.7.1940 No VX33476, posted to 2/23rd Bn 20.8.1940, promoted L/Cpl 14.9.1940, embarked for the Middle East 16.11.1940, promoted to Cpl 18.12.1940, Sgt 14.12.1941, embarked for Australia 31.4.1943 and disembarked Melb 25.2.1943.
