Negative - Haeusler Glass Negatives Collection - Wodonga West Primary School
The Wodonga Historical Society Haeusler Collection provides invaluable insight into life in late nineteenth and early twentieth century north east Victoria. The collection comprises manuscripts, personal artefacts used by the Haeusler family on their farm in Wodonga, and a set of glass negatives which offer a unique visual snapshot of the domestic and social lives of the Haeusler family and local Wodonga community. The Haeusler family migrated from Prussia (Germany) to South Australia in the 1840s and 1850s, before purchasing 100 acres of Crown Land made available under the Victorian Lands Act 1862 (also known as ‘Duffy’s Land Act’) in 1866 in what is now Wodonga West. The Haeusler family were one of several German families to migrate from South Australia to Wodonga in the 1860s. This digital image was produced from one of the glass negatives that form part of the collection, probably taken by Louis Haeusler (b.1887) with the photographic equipment in the Wodonga Historical Society Haeusler Collection. This item is unique and has well documented provenance and a known owner. It forms part of a significant and representative historical collection which reflects the local history of Wodonga. It contributes to our understanding of domestic and family life in early twentieth century Wodonga, as well as providing interpretative capacity for themes including local history and social history.Digital image created from the Haeusler Glass negative collection. A group of children and their teacher outside Wodonga West Primary School No. 1058. C.1910. The school was located near the current intersection of McKoy Street and the Hume Freeway in West Wodonga on land donated by J.W. Klinge, replacing an older school north of the railway line. It operated from January 1870 to May 1950 when the nine remaining students transferred to Wodonga Primary School. wodonga pioneers, haeusler family, glass negatives, dry plate photography, wodonga west primary school, schools wodonga -

Journal - Annual school magazine, The Peninsula School, Peninsula School Journal, 1964
The end of 1964 saw the first edition of The Peninsula School Journal published. The editing was done by the students under the guidance of Mr Laurie Arter, the Senior English Master. The Pen evolved from an A5 sized booklet (1964-71) to an A4 book (1972-80), then came the renaming of the publication, from the Peninsula School Journal to the Pen (1981). Numbering dropped with 1990 issue. The Pen has been published annually 56 times, except for 2020 when schools were in lockdown due to COVID-19.A5 size, 60 pagesnon-fictionThe end of 1964 saw the first edition of The Peninsula School Journal published. Mixed media (Item) - 2008 Edge Multimedia Festival
Photographs from a multimedia festival held at Bialik College in 2008. As part of the Information Technology program, teacher Brendan Cohen, shared work from students throughout the week. Please contact [email protected] to request access to this record.Edge [indistinct] 2008 CT Week at Bialik College We had an explosive and wonderful ICT week with our Multimedia Festival, The Edge, at Bialik. Our media Teacher, Brendan Cohen, displays student work in Flash, Adobe Premiere assignments, and photography. Each year level is shown the program and each morning teachers view samples of the work during morning briefing. The wondrous thing was a 6in6 contest in photography. 6 photos from each group were submitted, all taken as originals. Special effects could be gathered from internet sources. For example, one student put fire in the lenses of the subjectís dark glasses. The 6 secrets were: Magic A different perspective Inside out Going green Melting It's in the eyes. The second contest was to create a DVD cover for a movie of your life. One boy took 6 closeups of his face and manipulated them beautifully. Then he took another photo and merged all of them. It was extraordinary and the outputs were stunning. The energy all week was high. The second part of our ICT Multimedia Festival was a contest where students could submit an image file. ìCreate a DVD cover of a movie of your life.î Here is the winning entry. I asked Mikey to change his name on the cover in order to protect his identity. This he did. 2000s, 2008, bialik college, technology, media, photography -
