Sarah died and he married Harriet Tainton and they had 4 more children. The residential school was to provide theoretical and in-house education and practical training over three years. The students would also receive practical hands-on training in the wards of associated hospitals. The Northern District School of Nursing operated from Lister House, Rowan Street, Bendigo. John Lundy-Clarke grew up in the Kalorama/Mt Dandenong area and later in life (1972-74) began to write a comprehensive history of the district working from an original settlement map in an effort to cover all areas. Alan Price was the son of Edward John Price and Myra (nee Wilson) Price. He had a brother Edward Joseph 2nd (Teddie). Alan and Teddie were the grandsons of early settlers Edward Joseph and Annie (nee Ross) Price. Alan Price worked at his brother's depot in Ringwood, in charge of mechanical equipment. He rode to and from work on his motorbike. Alan was killed in a motorbike accident on his way home from work in 1971. Alan married Patricia Guerin in 1960. They had five daughters and one son. The cairn commemorating the Kyeema aircraft disaster with the addition of a smaller plaque listing the names of those who perished in the accident. This additional plaque was suggested by relatives of the victims who had attended earlier commemorations of the accident at the site. Mt Dandenong & District Historical Society members observed a minute's silence and drank a toast of South Australian wine, produced by vineyards with which some of the victims were associated, in memory of all those who lost their lives. The accident occurred at Devil's Elbow where now the Old Coach Road and Jasper Road meet at a cliff face. John Lundy-Clarke made a ballad about the mishap. The waggonnette was returning from an excursion to the Brooklyn Guest House in Montrose. The horses were killed and passengers presumably injured (a doctor attended). Mrs Eliza Jeeves, wife of Ellis Jeeves, standing in the garden outside the Mountjoy Guest House in Kalorama. Eliza was one of six daughters of Thomas Hand and Eliza Hand, (nee Erith) who owned the Mountain Grange property. Eliza and Ellis ran the Mountjoy Guest House from 1908 and Eliza ran it alone after Ellis's death in a buggy accident in 1921 until just before her death in 1943. Eliza Hand married Ellis Jeeves in 1885. They had 12 children, with 8 surviving to adulthood (5 boys and 3 girls). Eliza was one of the daughters of Thomas and Eliza Hand of Mountain Grange Homestead. Eliza and Ellis extended their home in the valley 'Kalorama' to become a Guest House. In 1908 they purchased 'Mountjoy Guest House' from the Paynter family and ran a very successful guest house and coach business. Following the death of Ellis Jeeves in a buggy accident in 1921, Eliza ran the guest house and her son, Hubert, the coaching business. A policeman is walking at the back of the tram - controlling traffic. The road surface is wet. Has the Ballarat Post Office in the background. Tram has the destination of Lydiard St. North. Photo taken mid to late 1960's. Tramcar has a SEC "Everything's under control in my all electric kitchen" roof advertisement. The slide could be a copy slide, given the nature of the colour and the additional number WP410. Photographer could be Bill Pearce (WP). "In 1968, the SECV assessed damage to the tram after an accident with an automobile. Upon inspection, it was found that the side bearers of the tram body had spread, and the centre bearers had been severely distorted because of the impact. Repairs of this nature required costly engineering work and with the closure of the tramway being imminent, it was decided to place Car 11 in storage on 6 road until the cessation of SECV services in 1972. Work commenced on the restoration of this tram in 1975 and it returned to service in 1986, being painted in the SECV livery of the 1950s." Yields information about the accidents and derailments in Ballarat and collisions with vehicles that resulted in injuries to the driver and major damage to vehicles or passengers.Newspaper clipping from The Courier, 16/4/54 and hand written notes on the collision between with a semi trailer and tram No. 37. Has details of the recovery using tram 21. Newspaper cutting gives details of those trammies involved, Dave Kellett and Herbert Ward. Collided with a semi carrying wool bales. Wal notes the tram was scrapped in 1955. Second cutting notes a derailment of a tram at the junction of Main Road and Victoria St. Noted the delays occurring. Wal has written the date of "Monday 15-6-1953" on the cutting. Contained within Reg Item 5507 - Foolscap binder with green covers, black binding edge and metal clips. On Tuesday, 4 October 1904, the first serious railway accident occurred on the Colac-Beech Forest line near Beech Forest. As no train was scheduled that day in the afternoon the crew decided to fetch some wood from down the line. They fired the boiler on locomotive 3A, attached two trucks to the locomotive and moved out of the station. When they arrived opposite the Ditchley Park Hotel they stopped the engine and adjourned to the bar for some refreshments before beginning work. While they were engaged some local children boarded the unattended engine, started it, panicked when it began moving and jumped out leaving in to speed away and tip on a curve in a cutting at Ditchley. The engine was severely damaged. However, its cause remained an Otways secret.
