Keith Charles Hofmaier (1927 - 1994) was one of Ballarat College's most distinguished sons. He attended the school from 1941 - 1945 serving as librarian, school prefect (1945) and member of the Rowing Firsts (1945). After school he became a successful farmer, well-known historian, organist, Freemason, philanthropist and community worker. He continued to give generously to the school and the Weatherly Library throughout his life. He endowed poetry and music prizes in memory of his daughter Ann who died in an accident. The Students' Representative Council gave a clock tot he school library in memory of his contribution to the school in 1994. The scenes depicted are Original Timor Street School built 1926, Timor Street with second storey 1967, New School built 1972. Dunkeld Annexe commenced 1975, Library new School built 1972, Annexe on Hill 1962 to 1978. They depict the ongoing development of the school which now operates as Brauer College in Caramut Road Warrnambool. Historical and social. A common item in the 20th century and as one of Warrnambool’s largest and longest running school would have some interest for a large number of local people. This book was awarded by Geelong Grammar to Walter Armstrong in 1881. It was donated to the Ballarat College library by his grandson W Mick U Armstrong (1944). Mick attended Ballarat College 1937 - 1942. In 1936 the Weatherly Library was established at Ballarat College and a community book drive resulted in personal copies of books owned by members of the school community being donated to the library over the next 10-20 years. Mick Armstrong donated this book (amongst others) to the school library during his final year at the school. It is an excellent example of the community spirit which carried the school through periods of financial hardship. Dark royal blue leather bound book with gold crest, borders and spine detail. At some stage the book has been donated to Mentone Girls High School and added to their library collection before being donted to Ballarat Clarendon College.
