The Decker family lived at Camp 3, Rushworth, for 6 years. They were evacuated from Palestine when war was declared and sent to Australia on board the Queen Elizabeth.Black and white photograph. Heinrich Walter Fuchs, MD, born 18 June 1886, Breslan Silesia, studied medicine in Breslan. Served as a doctor during WW1, interned from 1941-1945 after being captured in Turkey. Originally published in a Gold Coast newspaper; article sent to Thelma Lockwood. Charles Tennant was born in Ballarat in 1847 and was a member of the Victorian Police Force for 36 years. He spent some time in Shepparton where he met his future wife Elizabeth Mary Gorey, at a dance. She had just graduated as a trained nurse in the first group ever trained in the Mooroopna Hospital. They later moved to Cobram. Flags with various prints on were mass produced for people to wave as the Queen visited numerous towns and cities in Australia for about 3 months early in 1954. These particular ones were sold by the Red Cross for fundraising purposes. Interview of three persons, members of the Temple Society, who were arrested in Palestine during World War 2 as "enemy aliens". They were transported to Australia on the "Queen Elizabeth" which was being used at that time, as a troop ship. As part of a group of approximately 650 men, women and children from Palestine,they were held in internment Camp 3, Tatura, from 1941 until 1947. Those internees who chose to remain in Australia after the war were released at such time as they were able to obtain employment and accommodation. Also interviewed is Lurline Knee, Researcher for the Tatura Wartime Camps Museum.
