This hat was worn by members of the Country Fire Authority on ceremonial occasions.A peaked black woollen gaberdine fireman's hat with a black petersham band edged with silver binding. There is a silver badge with the letters CFA- Lieutenant in the middle of the band. On each side there are two silver buttons with 'cfa' stamped on them. Attached to these two buttons is a black plastic band. There is green plastic under the peak. The bowl of the hat is lined with red woven cotton and manufacturing details are stamped in gold. Sculpture was made by a personal friend of the subject in the mid 1940's and displayed in the home of the subject's son, John B. Crosbie until 2001. Bernard Crosbie (subject) was the nephew of Michael Loeman, former Shire of Bulla President and owner of 'Glen Loeman'. Dog tags were issued by the Shire of Bulla to all dog owners who resided within the Shire. The dog tags were used to identify dogs and to control wandering animals in the area.A gold metal dog tag with a small key ring issued by the Shire of Bulla in 1982. The lettering on the tag is engraved in the concave side of the tag. The tag is in a small brown envelope which has been fastened with staples at the end. The words Regd. Steel knitting needles were favoured over bone and plastic needles because they were unbreakable. The tins were used by the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. to store and sell treacle which is a by-product of cane sugar and molasses. The tin is labelled with the imperial pound measurement so it preceded metric weights and measures.A green, red and gold tin used to sell and store treacle. Two stick of sugar cane decorate the front and the back of the round tin. The tin lid on the top of the tin needs to be levered open. The tin's capacity is 2 pounds. The tin was designed and used by the Colonial Sugar Refining Co. to store and sell golden syrup which is a by-product of cane sugar, molasses and treacle. Compacts containing face powder and foundation in one were sold in department stores from the early 1950's. Their widespread use meant that the heavier powder compacts with face powder were less popular.A round black plastic compact with a gold design on the hinged lid. There is a gold border around the circumference and part of the paint has disappeared near the catch. In the centre there is a coronet which is surrounded with a floral design. From the early 1950's compacts containing face powder and foundation in-one were sold in department stores. The top was inserted into a glass bottle filled with water which was used to dampen starched clothes and linen before the garments were ironed. Figsens were a popular form of patent medicines sold in chemists and were taken to relieve constipation. They were packed in small orange and black tins before plastic packaging became popular.A small rectangular tin which is rounded at the corners. The lid is decorated in 3 bands of black, white and orange strips and wording in the same colours. The lid is hinged. Chlorate of Potash tablets were used to cure mouth ulcers. They were available without a prescription from chemist shops. The damping bottle was filled with water and used to moisten starched clothes and linen before garments were ironed. The stocking were worn with corsets or a suspender belt and were fastened to the foundation garments with suspenders. 60 denier stocking were not the finest knit stocking. The hat belonged to Edna Vlassopoulos who with her husband Andrew, had a poultry farm and market garden in the old Westmeadows township and later at Bulla. The hat was purchased to wear at a family wedding.A pink straw hat with a pink silk folded band wrapped above a narrow brim. There is a full-blown pink silk rose which is a trim on the RHS of the crown. Belonged to Kathleen Marjorie Dunn (nee McKenzie)Formal day dress in black crepe. It has a round neck and short set-in sleeves. The front opens from neck to waist and has four self-covered shank buttons. The bodice is slightly gathered at two points front and back. The skirt is gathered centre front with seven rows of shirring. The bodice features six arabesques in black and white beads. The skirt has two false pockets with similar beading.
