Station facilities for the travelling public on the narrow gauge line at Colac Railway Station were non-existent for many years. Tickets were purchased from the broad gauge booking office and the travellers then had to walk with their luggage over the rough, potentially ankle-twisting, stone approaches, through the goods yard and wait in the open amongst the mud holes alongside the narrow gauge departure track. In 1922 a footbridge was erected over the broad gauge lines, and a passenger shelter and small goods shed were built on the departure track.B/W. At Colac Railway Station, an locomotive 8A with five NQR wagons, an NM livestock wagon and a NBDBD combined passenger and brake van destined for Beech Forest, with either the driver or the fireman peering out of the engine, three youths standing at the front of the engine, and a group of people, including a woman, standing near the livestock wagon. Slide; An article titled 'Mems From The Mount' At Eagle Hawk Gully, Bendigo, five men were plundering a tent - the inmates shouted out lustily; some of the occupants of tent near at hand rushed out with firearms, and it being moonlight, observed the robbers, and, firing into them, killed three on the spot. At the junction of Forest Creek and Bendigo roads there is a coffee shop, which twelve men attempted to attack the other evening; but a couple of bright double-barrelled fowling pieces, held by the resolute hands inside the coffee shop plainly showed them that possession; so the scoundrels skulled of. Not with-standing these stories, the Diggers generally are quiet and peaceable. While penning these few remarks, I have just heard of the discovery of another murder at the New Bendigo Flat Diggings. Manilla Envelope containing 3 copies of a Lease agreement between John Taylor of California Gully and John Severn Barker of Jobs Gully for a company called the Garden Gully and Moon Extended Gold Mines NL. These men are the holders of an application for Gold Mining lease 10073 comprising about 90 acres in the Parishes of Yarraberb and Neilborough. The company is being formed to acquire the application for the lease and to carry out mining operations on and in the land comprised in the lease application. Dated 24th November 1933.
