The Duke of Gloucester was Governor General of Australia 1944 - 1947 and travelled widely throughout the country in his own plane which he donated to the Australian government upon his return to England. Powdered milk was sod in cans before plastic packaging was introduced. The Nestle Company manufactured the Sunshine powdered milk in Australia and was made from full cream pasteurised milk which had the water content removed from it this would then allow the tins of powdered milk to be transported without refrigeration. The powdered milk could then be made up by adding water at the recommended quantities as per directions on the labels.A white, and green paper covered rusty tin. Article is titled Lansell Erects Australia's Tallest Poppet Head.George Fauckner was responsible for erecting the tall poppet head at the 222 mine. Eight huge logs were used to make the four legs which morticed together. Blacksmiths made and riveted steel bands around the joints to secure them. Harkness Foundry manufactured the winding plant which was the largest in Bendigo at that time. Eleanor Hinde (1842-1902) was born in Lancashire England. In 1858, Eleanor married Richard Reynolds in the Forest Street Wesleyan Methodist Church in Sandhurst. They both gave their address as Sailors Gully Goldfields. They had seven children together. Richard was a skilled tradesman and after he died in 1872 from lung disease, Eleanor married Arculus Opie. Eleanor owned a property on the corner of Gladstone and Stanley Streets which later became an electrical substation. She sold poultry and eggs and preserves. The four folders contain family history documents and photos of the descendants of Eleanor Hinde. This is a photograph of The Avenue leading to the Sunbury Asylum. it is lined with pine trees and post and rail fences. At some stage oak trees were also planted along the avenue. In the late 1990s the trees along the west side of The Avenue were removed as a result of housing development.
