This medal was awarded to William (Bill) John Thomas HEYWOOD by the Victorian Country Football League in 11963This item is historically and socially significant because the person to whom it was awarded, granted land for the first football ground at South Pyurrumbete in the 1920s. This donation of land shows the community and sporting interests of Bill Heywood, as does his continuing interst in the South Purrumbete football Club over many years. This ground is still in existence today. -

Bendigo Advertiser '' The way we were'' from 2000. Busy: the Frank Brown Brick factory, Back Creek, circa 1900. Frank M. Brown was born in 1857. He began his working life as an apprentice pattern maker with A. Roberts & Sons, iron founders, in Wills Street, Sandhurst. He later became foreman of Horwoods Foundry in Vine Street. He formed a foundry partnership with Thomas R.J. Carter in 1887 as Carter & Brown. In 1889 he left Carter to start his own City foundry in Wattle Street. In 1892 Brown established a steam brick works opposite 208 Sheepwash Road (now Sternberg Street) which continued to operate until about 1916. In 1902 he purchased the Vine Street foundry to trade as Bendigo Iron Works. The clip is in a folder.newspaper, bendigo advertiser, the way we were -

Legal record - WES HARRY COLLECTION: THREE MINER'S RIGHT / RESIDENCY PERMITS
The Miner’s Right has a long history in Australia. Still in use today, it was first established in Victoria in 1855, as a replacement for the Gold License (which had been introduced in Victoria in 1851). The Miner’s Right was subsequently adopted by other Australian colonies. Unlike the Gold License, the early Miner’s Right, in addition to the right to prospect for gold, also carried with it certain other advantages, such as property rights and voting rights. Handwriten document, Memorandum: 13th day of May, 1884, 'relating to a portion of land situate at McIvor road, Sandhurst in the colony of Victoria a list thereof is contained in the schedule hereto delivered by me Jane Anderson of McIvor Road Sandhurst, aforesaid widow to Thomas Jeffeson Connelly of Sandhurst aforesaid solicitor in pledge to secure to the aforesaid Thomas Jefferson Connelly the sum of twenty two pounds' Schedule referred to: Conveyance: R.I. Adworth to William Andersn , dated 3rd day of march 1862. Conveyance: William Anderson to Jane Anderson, dated 15th day of July 1879. Signed by the said Jane Anderson by affixing her mark thereto to the same having been first read over and explained to her in my presence. Jane O'Riley. Timber house fragment, Late 19th Century
'Grantully' was formerly 'Rosemount', South Yarra, home of Thoas Elder Boyd. Brought to Mt Evelyn by Fergus Scott c. 1917, guesthouse 1920's-30's, home of artist Ernest Buckmaster 1940-68.Part of wooden beam possibly cedar, from the house "Grantully", English, 1840's. The more recently sawn end has pinkish tinge. The rectangular cavity is a 'mortise' into which a projection ('tenon') on another piede fitted.Inscription on one side, possibly made by permanent marker. " "GRANTULLY" MT.
