He was discharged on 26/11/1945 and died on 20/2/1977 aged 70 years. John Henry Baker was the son of James Henry Baker and Mary Ann Ross, who was born in Linton in 1860. After the death of his mother John was cared for by his maternal grandmother in Linton, and attended Linton State School.
