Headed "STUDY" and titled "Tram study ready to go", about the consideration of tenders for the study to consider the return of trams to Ballarat, or other form of transport. Quotes Dianne Smith, Ballarat Tourism Executive Director. Headed "GOLD TRAM" and titled "Sparkling reminder of a golden past", about the launch of the Gold Tram 45, by the Mayor, David Vendy the previous day at the tram depot. Item written by Gabrielle Hodson in The Courier, Ballarat, page 6 on 18/1/1997 quoting a figure provided by Dave Macartney of the BTM that tram tracks could cost about $1.3m / km. This is for single track compared to about $1.9m/km in Melbourne for double track. Notes comments by Andrew McEvoy of the Ballarat Tourism Board and spokesman for the new Victorian Transport Minister, Gavin Clancy. Has three options for delivery - 200 four-axle trams, 100 four-axle and 60 six-axle or 120 six-axle articulated trams. The last was selected. Tenders closed 27/4/1984. The donor used the book to superintend the contract by Comeng Dandenong. Has many notes for future engineering reference.
