This new church built on 6 Clarkmount Road Sassafras was opened on 30th January, 1937 by Moderator Right-Rev. A Irving Davidson, M.A. It replaced the Log Cabin Presbyterian Church which erected in 1925 as a memorial to G H Derry, the first Chairman of the Recreation Reserve. The Civilian Service Medal 1939 - 1945 was established in 1994 by the Australian Government. It recognizes the service of civilians who served in Australia during World War 11, in organisations that were subject to military-like arrangements and conditions of service, or arduous circumstances, in support of the war effort. The original medal is missing in the presentation box. A ticket voucher book used on the railway line between Bairnsdale and Orbost which closed in 1987. Escept for special events, passenger trains ceased in 1937 and after that time, passengers wishing to travel by train had to take the good trains and be issued with this ticket. The train guard may have issued these tickets.This item is associated with the history of the Orbost-Bairnsdale railway line and therefore reflects the role that the rail line played in the social and economic history of Orbost.A Victorian Railways ticket voucher book. Peaked uniform cap worn by members of the Luftwaffe Flak Group Pattern is NCO pattern dated 1939. Note refers to Waffenfabre which translates to Weapons Factory.Predominately black peaked hat. Initially John Matchett had a grocery store in Pall Mall. In 1893, he advertised as a hay and corn dealer. When he retired to a farm in Kamarooka, the business was taken over by his son Robert Matchett (1864-1928). In 1904 the business moved to the Corner of Mitchell St., and Bath Lane. As well as a grocers this was a wine and spirit merchant. After Robert Snr. died the shop and the liquor licence was transferred to his son Robert Jnr.
