A large hardcover children's book with the title Against all Odds - Adventure Stories for Boys printed in white and black lettering at the top. The spine has the title in black letters with an African porter drawn beneath. The front cover has a wrap around with the back cover of a coloured illustration of hunters in Africa shooting at a rhinocerous with local porters running away. There is a printed bookplate on the front endpaper and a coloured frontispiece opposite the title page of two tigers sitting on rocks in the grass. This was originally the Sandhust Mining Exchange and as such was the oldest purpose built exchange in Australia and was one of only two in regional Australia. It was initially established in the 1850's to service the miners of the area. It's first double story incarnation as the Bendigo Stock Exchange, contained up to 2000 stockbrokers and 5000 shareholders. In 1871 the building burnt to the ground and the new and current building was completed in 1872.
