This type of trolly is known to date from prior to 1910 and were in use before petrol engines were used to transport workmen along the railway lines. The exhibit was located at Colac in 1961, after being used on the Colac to Beech Forest and Crowes narrow gauge railway. Built 1910This photo, a souvenir from Kula Lumpar, Malaysia from between the wars (circa 1923) was brought home to Research, Victoria by Bill Teagle who was serving in the Royal Australian Navy (1919-1945). According to Bill's neice Valerie Waller (nee Feldbauer, daughter of Violet and Theodore 'Curly' Feldbauer), her Uncle Bill would always bring some sort of souvenir home from his travels for family members. The item ( along with a series of postcards from Japan of the Great Kanto Earthquake of 1 September 1923) was possibly given by Bill Teagle to his sister Margaret Rose (formerly Ingram) who later married Richard Edward (Eddie) Fielding in early 1948. (Eddie had been engaged to someone else before he went to war, but his fiancée broke it off before his return to Australia.) It was cared for by the Teagle/Fielding family for approximately one hundred years. These documents come from a collection of material from the Baulch families of Dunmore and Rose Park estates in Western Victoria in the Macarthur district. They concern the sales of the Green Hills Estate (1910) and the Olangolah estate (1915) near Woolsthorpe. Both were offered for sale by the owner, Colin Tulloh. The properties bordered on Baulch property belonging to Stan Baulch (1897-1980) and hence this is the reason for their being included in Baulch estate material. A Melbourne Leader article about the tree was dated 9/4/1910 and this photo appeared therein. Johannes Bosch came to Australia in 1884 aged 17. He married Henrietta Duck, had 3 children and divorced in 1903. The NQRs were the standard Medium open goods wagon. Generally the sides and ends were removable thus providing a totally flat truck. Three long drop-down doors formed the sides thus allowing easy loading and unloading. 218 of these goods vehicles were built between 1898 and 1914 ? numbered 1 - 218​. Originally, these wagons carried the code letter R​ as they were built with sides and ends. Unlike the Broad Gauge, VR's 2 ft 6 in (762 mm) narrow gauge network never had four-wheeled wagons (aside from a handful of trolleys). Because of this, a single design of open wagon emerged and this was the only type of wagon ever used on these lines. This was the NQR class, a wagon with the same length and loading capacity as a Broad Gauge four-wheeled open wagon to make transferring freight between the gauges easier. The wagons, numbered 1 through 218, were built between 1898 and 1914. The wagons used the same underframe as most other non-locomotives on the VR Narrow Gauge. Letters and numbers were originally painted only on the end bulkheads and doors, both of which could be removed as traffic dictated, and this made wagon identification difficult until the decals were transferred to the underframes of each wagon In the 1910s some NQRs were provided with removable wood and steel frameworks with canvas roof canopies and side curtains, and internal seating to supplement the rest of the passenger stock during busy holiday periods. Puffing Billy has re-created these for emergency capacity. Cash registers were used by businesses to store the money received for the transactions of goods and for recording the amount of money taken over a period of time e.g.. a day. This cash register is pre 1966, pre decimal currency and includes the halfpenny.Dudley Pigram who managed the Mongan's Bridge Caravan Park used this register. He brought it down to the Mt Bogong Clay Target Club in the 1970's although it is pre decimal currency. Dudley wass a founding member of the Clay Target Club.This brass cash register has a serial number indicating that it was made between 1905 and 1906. It is very heavy. A black metal cash register with glass across the top where the amount of the sale is displayed. There are 2 rows of keys - the top row left to right - 8/-, 6/-, 4/- 2/- with white background, 11d, 9d, 7d, 5d, 3d, 1d with red background. Bottom row left to right - 9/-, 7/- 5/- 3/- 1/- with white background, 10d, 8d, 6d, 4d, 2d, with red background plus a digital half d with a white background.
