KING EDWARD V11 MEMORIAL SANATORIUM FOR CONSUMPTIVES Research paper, (20 handwritten pages) on the movement in Bendigo to establish a sanatorium for people suffering from phthisis and tuberculosis in the region. References to the movement date from 21 August 1896 through to 14th June 1933. Top of page are reference numbers relating to T.B, phthisis, Wm. Guy, Edward V11 Sanatorium, Dr. Stuart Cowen. Possibly articles and page numbers from Annals of Bendigo? First entry reads: 'In his annual report, Dr. J.N. Eadie Health Officer, drew attention to the enormous death rate in Bendigo from phthisis, especially amongst the miners, and urged that steps should be taken to perfect the legislation with regard to Mine Ventilation. ..... Copy of a letter and associated documents written to the Town Clerk, City of Ballaarat, dated Aug 1, 1985 seeking the support of the Council in attaining the body of the tramcar in Ballarat East. (Tram was actually obtained in December). Signed by the Secretary, Richard Gilbert. Mentions Frank Hanrahan as President for further information. Enclosed within letter is a two page note on BTPS Letter head outlining the history of the tramcar, its restoration, current condition, possible operation and value of the restoration. Attached as well is a folded drawing out an Adelaide double deck horse tram (Reference Reg. Item No. 706.1 ) and a photocopy of the builders of the first horse tram at the depot in 1887 (Reference Reg. Item No. 765 ). Agfa plastic mount (blue base, white cover) of a photograph of No. 36 and four single truckers at City or Grenville St Loop, with the buildings at the south east end of Sturt St. in the background is Dickins Food Store. A number of the trams have SEC roof advertisements and one unidentified one. Tram 36 has the "Trotting Bray Raceway Friday Night" auxiliary boards and is showing the destination of "CITY". Photo taken Nov 1970. One of a set of 20 slides made by the Association of Railway Enthusiast Provincial Tramways film strip.
