Rob Upson became a volunteer at the Bendigo Visitor Centre in 1998. The Staff produced a monthly newsletter called ‘The Grapevine’. Being reasonably new to Bendigo, Rob became interested in its history and began writing articles to share with the volunteers. He called them ‘Grapevine Cuttings’ under the pen name of ‘Merlot’. Rob wrote about 90 articles over a period of 12 years until ‘The Grapevine’ was finally pruned and shutdown. Rob is a valuable volunteer for the Bendigo Historical Society.Article 23 of 65 Newsletters in PDF format from the Grapevine collection. history, bendigo, grapevine cuttings, grave in maiden gully, cobb & co -

Book - Prime Ministers' wives
Since Federation Australia has had twenty-four prime ministers. This book delves into the lives of the wives of ten of these men revealing how they survived the rigours of marriage to Australia's most powerful men. As well as describing these women's public activities, the author explores their private lives: their romances with the men who were to become prime ministers, their marriages, the joys and anxieties of childbirth and family life, the losses and infidelities. Taking us from the early days of Federation, these revealing portraits hold up a mirror to a changing Australia.23 cm H, 342 p; index; notes: 1 sourcesnon-fictionSince Federation Australia has had twenty-four prime ministers.
