Yields information about the closure of the SEC Ballarat system in particular the changes made to Bridge St.Newspaper clipping pasted onto a single sheet of paper with two Punch holes on the left hand side with one hole through the photograph within the cutting. Clipping from The Courier, Ballarat, Monday, 23/8/1971 (newspaper date, with page 10), with a photo and associated caption of Council employees painting out parking lines in Bridge St. in preparation for a bus stop. Has a single truck tram in the photo heading along Bridge St. for the city. Caption notes that the work was being done in preparation for the bus service introduction. Intersection of Main Road and Bridge Streets, Eltham. Before reconstruction of Main Road, this intersection had deep cutting embankments on all four corners. Roadworks and private development have levelled the land on the low side of the road. To the west of St. Kilda Road running in parallel from City Road to Mafra Street is Sloss Street, it was removed in the late 1960' for the construction of the National Arts Center. The former "Green Mill" dance hall built in 1926 become the "Forty Club" in 1933 and evolved to being the "Trocadero Palais" by the late 1930's can be seen on the right of the photo. The road on the south side of the Yarra River, at the bottom of the photo, is Riverside Avenue. Work was being done repairing a bridge on the Sunbury - Bendigo line at the former Rupertswood siding, which in the past was used initially by guests who would arrive at the Rupertswood mansion and of later years by students from Salesian College.
