The photograph is of two Ithacan men relaxing at the Ithacan picnic of 1926. Many more men than women migrated during these early years. Often wives were left on the island and brought out later, once their husbands were more established. Some were never reunited with their spouses. The photograph was taken after one of the foot races at an Ithacan Philanthropic Society's annual picnic which took place in the 1920s-1930s.
