This Tapa cloth was presented to the Bishop of Ballarat as head of the Oceanic Bishops' gathering in the 1980s. The Tapa or bark cloth is prepared from the bark of a tree, beaten flat and glued with a native plant. It is then printed with earth dyes and sap from a Koka or candlenut tree. The bronze medal commemorates the centenary of the government of Victoria from 1851 to 1951, as well as the centenary of the discovery of gold and was presented to the Shire of Wodonga in 1951. It was commissioned by the Victorian Government in 1951 to commemorate 100 years of the separation of Victoria from the colony of New South Wales in 1851. The medal was designed by the sculptor Andor Mészáros (1900-1972) and minted by K.G. Luke in Melbourne. The bronze medal has local, state and national significance, as it commemorates the centenary of 100 years of government in Vctoria. It also has aesthetic and social significance as an example of a limited edition bronze medal designed by the prominent sculptor Andor Mészáros, who is known for his work depicting the history, culture and sporting life of Australia.Bronze medal commemorating the centenary of the government of the State of Victoria from 1851 to 1951, and the centenary of the discovery of gold. A pair of shoes worn by a Presentation nun at Star of the Sea Convent, Gardenvale. The history of the shoes is unknown; nuns working in the convent's archive found them stored among convent records, and subsequently donated them to Brighton Historical Society. The Presentation Sisters, a Catholic order originating from Ireland, founded the Star of the Sea Convent in Gardenvale in 1883. Led by Mother Paul Fay and Mother John Byrne, they established a convent and school in a house called Turret Lodge, on the site of the present Star of the Sea College in Martin Street. The order and the school remain active in Brighton today. Foy & Gibson was one of Australia's earliest department store chains. As the photograph on the front page of this pamphlet suggests, the ‘Home & Family Week’ activities may have been inspired by the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth in England. The program for the week included exhibitions, speakers, musical entertainments, a church service, children’s films, public meetings, discussion groups and a youth tea. A committee was formed in Warrnambool to organize the week’s events and the Chairman was Mr Lindsay Anderson.This program is of interest because it gives us details of an event that was staged in Warrnambool in 1953 – Home & Family Week. Many of the speakers and chairpersons for the activities of Home & Family Week were well-known people in the Warrnambool community at the time – Dr H. Holmes, Edith Jacobs, Rupert Philpott, Mrs J.O. Tait, Dr Brauer, Mr E. Willison, Arnold Westgarth etc. This is a pamphlet - one sheet folded in two to make six pages. It has the program for Home & Family Week held in Warrnambool in 1953. The program has blue printing on a beige background. The front page has a photograph in blue and white tonings of Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip and their two children. Miles.

This medal was struck to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) in London in 1929. The RCOG was founded by William Blair-Bell, who is said to have been largely responsible for the design of the College coat of arms and gowns, and to have contributed to the motto "Super Ardua".
