Tatura Tennis Club 1905.|The Tatura Tennis Club was first formed in 1889, but early records are scarce; the first President on record being A.B. Used as give away for advertising. Discovered in 2003 when owner, Ken Gray, of Tatura, noticed the covering paper peeling away on the wall of a galvanised iron shed on his property. He believed the shed was bought at the internment camp 4 auction conducted by the Commonwealth Government in the early 1950's and transported to the property which he now owns.Cartoon like painting depicting men (army garrison soldiers) playing billiards. WW2 internment camp 1, Tatura. Australian Staff Sergeant G F Evans (V14130) with two of the mascots in camp 1 - Whacko the Cockatoo and Cobber the terrier. Whacko was found by a prisoner as a fledgling, reared by one of the guards and renowned for its lurid vocabulary. Ended its days at Wallan Hotel after the War.Black and white photograph. Made in Camp 1 Tatura, containing copies of letters written by Dr. Neumann to his wife in Bendigo. Dr. Neumann came from Germany to take a position as lecturer at Sydney University c. 1937, until interned in 1939. This clock originally belonged to Mrs Helen Cross of Tatura. It may have been a wedding present in 1880. It was handed down to her daughter Mrs W Dick (1933) of Harston, then to her daughter Mrs Ruby Williams (1952) of Tatura and then to her son Brian Williams in 1997. Images forwarded by email by the son of Guidobaldi. Thirteen images of artwork performed by Guidobaldi while in Loveday and later in Camp 1 Tatura. Guidobaldi was a model maker and after the war made models for Film and TV Productions in England.
