Uniform - HAT - WW2 AUSTRALIAN WOMEN'S ARMY SERVICE, C. 1942 - 1945
Uniform hat for the Australian Women's Army service, 1942 - 1945 issued to Mrs M Crowley. Item is part of an AWAS display uniform. Refer Cat No 1267.4. Australian Women's Army Service uniform hat which is khaki in colour. It has a Grosgrain brown hat band with a with Rising Sun badge pinned to the front of the band. Attached to the right hand side of the band over the band bow is a rectangular unit colour patch consisting of white and dark blue with a purple surround. the inside of the hat is lined with a Grosgrain sweat band. VX103961 relates to Reginald Harry Clark, he had a previous Regt No V59524 in the CMF, enlisted 17.7.1942 age 33 years, discharged 4.12.1945 with the rank of WO 2 in 1st Adv Ret Depot.Khaki, wool button down tunic with 4 regimental buttons and one tan plastic button at the top, issued to soldiers in WWII. The letter "A" is for "Anzac". Issued to those who served on the Gallipoli Peninsula and surrounding Islands, Hospital ships etc and worn as is on the Colour Patches. Instituted in 1917. Service Chevrons are worn on the right arm below the elbow of your uniform. The red one is for those who embarked in 1914, the blue, one for each year of service after. Instituted in 1918. These belonged to Frederick Campbell Moller No 2233 AIF.
