Form headed "Ballarat Tramways Punch Register" - with extensive entries required for the record of tramcar operations on ESCo Ballarat tramways. Principally around the number of tickets sold, punched and trips with the pay-in details along the lower edge. HP James notes the use of Bell punches of two types in his notes on tickets - see item 2541. See item 2531 for a 4d ticket that states it had to be Bell punched. Has space for 4d return, 1d night school, disabled soldiers, and various values of dockets. Photograph of X1 461 at the Ballarat Road terminus with the driver turning the trolley pole. The tram has a "Pay as you enter sign" sign. The driver who drove the tram one man collecting fares has a summer jacket on and is carrying the ticket bag without a ticket wallet - Fare Box tram. All fares were 2 1/2d or 2d tickets sold in lots of six tickets. See item 876 Sections and Fares Book. The driver's trousers do not appear to have a red seem. The tram carried Fare Boxes 9/1930 to 6/1936. Used by The Metropolitan Transport Authority (The Met) to provide a multi-journey trip ticket within a nominated City (CBD) area. Has been used for 10 trips. A check ticket was issued by a conductor for each trip made. Has details of the availability on the rear. Notes that the ticket is available for trams, buses and light rail. Previous issues did not have light rail listed. The light rail to St Kilda and Port Melbourne commenced in Nov. 1987. Has The Met logo on the rear. An original photograph donated to the Kew Historical Society by the City's Engineering Department preceding the amalgamation of Kew into the City of Boroondara. The photograph can be dated to the period 1961-1994 when the Victorian Totalisator Agency Board (TAB) began operations as a state enterprise. The latter was privatised in 1994.Public works. During the 1970's RVIB conducted fund raising through the use of Instant Bingo machines in Melbourne's pubs and clubs. For 20 cents per card, a Lucky Envelope would be provided and amounts from $1 (if all the numbers were green), $2 (gold), $5 (blue), $10 (grey) or $25 (red) could be won. Machines were emptied/refilled by RVIB volunteers and the profits gained were expended by the Institute for services to the blind.
