Long Gully is a suburb of Bendigo, 3 km north-west of the city's centre. The Long Gully Creek signifies the physical location of the suburb, and the Long Gully reefs ran southwards from Eaglehawk. It was particularly rich, realising yields as high as five ounces of gold to the ton.Four black and white photos of a painter's studio in Creeth Street, Long Gully, Bendigo. The postcard shows two views of buildings relating to the Golden Square Methodist Church. The first is a picture of the church with the dates 1852 - 1912 below it and the inscription 'Diamond Jubilee Celebrations, September 29th to October 11th, 1912. Rev. W.H. Hodge, Minister.' Bendigo Advertiser "The way we were" from Monday, February 28, 2005. Heyday: the surface view of the test shaft, plant and poppet legs of the government shaft at Fosterville (October 1900-April 1903). A pumping plant and winch were purchased from the Tyson's Reef Mine for 900 pounds and removal and assembly cost 723 pounds. Arrangements were also made with the North Stewart Company for the loan of poppet legs, the steam winch engine and buildings.
