Bendigo Advertiser '' The way we were'' from 2000. Early days: it was anything goes as far as striped jumpers went in South Bendigo Football Club's early years. Football was played on rough surfaces which had holes and mud. The goal posts were timber props positioned much further apart than they are today. Ron was a a junior legatee after his father Ron Barassi Snr was killed at Tobruk in World War II. He has participated in many Legacy events over many years. This was an early record of his involvement at a young age. One of the boys was Ian Paltridge on the far left (1955/56?) - from a note added to the photo at some stage.
