Geelong West Cycling Club have run track cycling competitions since its inception. Medals were presented up until the year 2002 at the Geelong Cycling Club. Model of Maud made in 2012 by Malcolm Gibson in Geelong. Actual couta boat Maud was launched in 1927 built by Lars Halvorsen and now moored in QueenscliffMAUD is a wooden sailing vessel built in Victoria for fishing. It is an example of the Victorian couta boat class with a design adaptation for local conditions. It was built and designed by Peter Locke Jnr, at Queenscliff Victoria in 1931, with shallower draft than most couta boats so that it could operate from Barwon Heads. Between the 1920’s and 1950’s the YWCA, Blue Triangle and local committee of representatives organised an Inter House Athletics Day for Girls in Geelong and Melbourne. Local Geelong business, such as the surrounding woollen mills, business firms and church clubs would form teams of seven women to compete in a variety of sports such as bowls, basketball, hockey, cricket and soccer. The Reeves family emigrated from Dublin arriving in Geelong around 1845. The established their cordial business in Warrnambool in mid 19th century and operated well into the 20th century.The Reeves family were one of a number of drink manufacturers which operated in Warrnambool in the late 19th century and 20th century.
