Rev Daniel Foley was the third Bishop of Ballarat 1916 - 1941. A cousin to Archbishop Mannix of Melbourne he accompanied Mannix on his 1920 journey across the U.S.A giving many public speeches. He was witness to the removal of Mannix from the SS Baltic by the British in the Irish Sea, an event that made world headlines.
