Machine - BABY DAISY: HAND OPERATED BELLOWS VACUUM CLEANE
Hand operated Bellows vacuum cleaner. Previously #27 The “Baby Daisy” Vacuum Cleaner is constructed from timber, steel and leather bellows. It has a carry handle fixed to the top. The base is approx. 500mm x 250mm. The height is approx 400mm. On one side is a bracket for a handle (missing) used to operate the bellows. The device is mounted on a foot plate that is split. On one side of the bellows is a circular metal detachable hatch, fixed by wing-nuts. This has a central hole for a tube (missing). Attached internally to this hatch is a cloth dust collection bag. The metal hatch has the following moulded words arranged in a circular fashion. 'DAISY Vacuum Cleaner). There are two brass plates fixed to the side of the cleaner above the hatch. These plates are stamped with 'Rd. No. 518080 and Rd. No. 530353' Gold printed Labels on the side say the following. BABY DAISER Vacuum Cleaner. Registered England. No. 518080/7 No. 530353/08 Trade Mark No.294851 /07 Designs France No. 25469/08 Germany No. 330219 / 08 Further Patents applied for. In the centre of the label is a picture of a Daisy Flower. With the words Iles Patent. This is surrounded by a ribbon with the words. 'The Daisy Registered Trade Mark'. Cream coloured silk wedding dress with train. Three flat panels at front and side, lined with polished cotton. Centre tightly gathered panel at centre back lined with stiffened cotton.Other panels lined with stiffened cotton above hemline of skirt. Double layer lace insert inside lower edge to hemline. Back opening with four hook and eye fasteners. Deep pocket on side seam at hip on RHS. Three back panels extended below hemline of skirt to form squared edge train. Clothing - BODICE (WEDDING DRESS), 1896
Bodice (Wedding dress), hand and machine stitched. Silk lined with polished cotton. Slim ruched sleeves - ruched at inner and elbow side of sleeve (hand sewn). Elbow edge of ruching forms two ''frilled pleats'' down the sleeve to the wrist. Wrist edge lily pointed and finished with a 9 cm underfill of cotton lace. Top of sleeves have a leg-o-mutton balloon effect panel sewn at the shoulder and the upper arm. This balloon effect hangs down over the sleeves almost to the elbow. Top of sleeve has an embroidered lace frill hanging over armhole. Two silk bows are placed at the shoulders. Stand-up collar,5 cm deep is finished on each side with a pearl and glass beaded bow motif- 6cm in diameter. Hook and eye fasteners down front-metal loops covered with button hole stitch. Bodice boned with thirteen (13) ''bones''. Each pocket finished with a fan pattern stitching. Linen panel, with a diamond shaped weave stitched at each underarm. Front bodice is pleated from shoulders to centre front. Right front laps across left to fasten with a hook on the left shoulder. This panel is heavily beaded with glass beads and sequins. Red orlon long sleeved cardigan with high round neckline, with a narrow ribbed neckband. Set-in sleeves with a 5.5cm ribbed band at the wrist and a 5.5cm ribbed band at the waistline. Formerly owned by Margaret (Nell) Limbs nee Eider who worked at Hanoi in the Finishing Department about 1935. Clothing - PAIR OF SPATS, 1900-1920
Gentleman's brown suede fabric spats, bound at seams and lower edge in .75 cm leather strips. Four one cm, diameter plastic buttons at outer ankle, with four stitched buttonholes. Centre front seam is lined with a leather strip, opening edges lined with cotton tape, and finely machine stitched.
