Document - Menu card, Complimentary Dinner to our President, Legatee P E Potts, 1928
A menu card for a dinner given to farewell Legacy President Philip Potts as he left to be part of the Scottish delegation in March 1928. Legatee Potts was the current Legacy President and this promotion meant he had to step down and Legatee CH Peters took over the rest of the 1927-8 tenure. The text of menu has joking references to other Legatees which shows their comradeship and camaraderie. An album of significant events in March 1928 was compiled and presented to Legatee Potts by Legatee Frank Doolan. (see 02134). The album includes the first annual demonstration, appeals for funds to build the Shrine and farewell notices from Legacy newsletters.A record that Legatees held very significant positions in their lives outside of Legacy. Their comradeship meant they celebrated achievements and promotions together.Black and white photo of Legatee Potts and his wife plus a dinner menu card from his leaving function.Handwritten on back of photo, 'L/ Phil Potts and Mrs Potts walking in the street ??' in pencil. Menu is titled, 'Complimentary dinner to our President, Legatee P.E. Potts on the eve of his departure with the Scottish delegation.
